Great Lid Opener
My lid opener just arrived and I put it on a jar that I have spent days trying to open with my handheld, non-battery-operated manual lid opener. I usually don’t have problems opening jars though and usually open them with my bare hands.I just put the new lid opener on the jar, pressed the button, and the lid popped open right away. There was a loud sound of a pop, but the lid is now off. Truly amazing. The jar that I needed to open was a salsa product from a company that I have purchased the same product from for well over a decade. But, over the last 5 or so years, their lids have been beyond problematic. I even contacted the company about the situation and had to have new jars of the same product sent out a couple years ago due to the lids not budging. I was told that their machines were putting the lids on too tightly. Well, the problem hasn’t been resolved with their company’s machines, but it has been resolved with my new lid opener. I probably will be buying some of these lid openers for gifts. And it only needs two AA batteries of which I keep plenty of here at home.

Slow and bulky -but it works!
I was super skeptical – I didn’t really see how this would really work to remove really stuck lids -BUT, it does. Really surprised and pleased at how well it works. So far, I haven’t found a jar it couldn’t open. I’m getting older and my thumb joints are going – I can’t open jars at all without a lot of pain (and often I just can’t open them). I live alone, so I needed something. The 2 things I don’t love:1) it is pretty bulky – it doesn’t fit well into my shallow utensil drawers (it does fit, but I had to take a LOT out of the drawer to make room.2) it is really slow – after the lid is opened, you still have to stand and wait for it to reverse it’s gripping process. For me, these things are a small price to pay, to not get stuck unable to open a jar part way through cooking dinner…

CAN AND JAR OPENER
I like the opener. I is easy to use once you get use to it. I still rely mainly on the flat round rubber grippers.

Kitchen gadget
Its fast and easy to open. Magnet latches strongly on the lid. It’s very handy and doesn’t need a lot of space to store. Price is affordable and it’s worth it.

very specific jars…
First this was clearly a used item – the information ‘stickers’ on it had been pulled off and stuck back on in a mess. But also this doesn’t open just any jar or bottle… be sure to read up on it. It must be certain sizes and no plastic jars, you must wipe down each jar, etc. Just read up on it… it is ok for my use but may not be for everyone.

Didn’t work very long.
This item worked fairly well for about a month. The last time I used it (or tried to) it locked up and started squealing like a pig to slaughter…I had to remove the batteries to make it stop. And of course it was after the return window. I’ll never buy another one…wasted my money.

Goofy Little Machine That Works
I was skeptical but desperate as I can no longer open any jars of any size. A friend recommended something like this (she didn’t give a brand) so after some looking at other models, I chose this one. On my test run, I thought it was going to be a fail because it makes this kind of weird churning noise as the grippers move in to grip the jar and it’s pretty slow. And then suddenly the lid was off. *pop* I was astonished how easily it opened that wide mouth jar. It took less than 30 seconds to grip and 1 second to pop. Wow. The noise almost made think I’d got a lemon but wow. This is a far cry over me crying in the kitchen, banging the lid on the ground, yelling at the tools I’ve been using, you know… It was so, literally, painful until now. Can’t recommend this tool enough

Pain-free jar opening!
No, it doesn’t fit everything so you won’t be disposing of your current collection of jar openers BUT when it does fit the jar it’s marvelous! You just push the button until it closes on the jar and lid. Then the little machine (not you) gives a little grunt, breaks the seal and opens the jar. Voila! No wrist pain. No swearing at the jar. No looking for something to bend the lid and break the seal. No running the jar under hot water to expand the metal lid. No trying your various manual jar openers to force the sucker open. Joy!

It works- still!
I don’t have alot of hand strength any more so my husband bought this for me to try! Works great on everything I’ve needed to open: large pickle jars, home canned goods jam jars +. I’d recommend this. It does take up storage room however.I’ve now had this for a while and I still like it.

It works!!
I suffer from neuropathy in both hands so I bought this for opening jars. It works great for glass jars but not on plastic drink bottles. It tends to squash them.Although it is slow when closing/opening on the lid first, then the jar, due to two sets of rubber ended arms, it works well. I used it on a baby food jar and hearing that “pop” of the lid was so satisfying. No more struggling to open them.Although it says electric opener on the box, it runs on 2 AA batteries. It’s easy to use one handed. Just center it on the lid and press the power button on top.If you struggle to open jars then this device is for you.

Works great, but uses batteries fast
This just works. Lids pop off effortlessly, even for plastic jars. Entertaining to watch it work. And it fits in a drawer. A bonus is that it comes in red! The Black & Decker Lids Off also works, but it takes up counter space and is vastly more costly than this great device. Only downside is that it goes through batteries quickly – one set of batteries only opens about 6-10 jars. Consider rechargeables if you use it frequently.

Updated – added stars- A piece of junk I wish I’d never bought. Get a rechargeable one.

The customer service dept for this product reached out to me many many months after I left this email to ask me whether I would remove my review if they gave me a refund. I said I’d update it. I also asked them to send me a return shipping label to send the opener as I don’t want to add it to a pile of trash. They agreed. Waiting on label.I added two stars to count for the fact I was emailing with a live person and that they seemed to be compassionate to me.I asked them if they have a rechargeable opener and they said no.It seems that they are way late to the game as far as charging.I still wouldn’t buy it again but at least they have a customer serviceWorks one out of 5 times. Pain in the ass. I wish I’d never bought it.

Will open most bottles.
Since my son has a tendency to put lids back on jars tightly, I needed something that would open a jar when he wasn’t in the house. I’m so glad I purchased this jar opener. It works on most jars. No tiny jars, and some large, but on most it works.

Did not work for me
Tried on several jars, small to medium and would not open them. On last, it started squealing horribly. Past the return period, so $21.00 into the trash!Update. Seller refunded my money. Wish it had worked for me. It might work for others.

It works! But needs an on/off switch
As a senior citizen with arthritis in my hands, this product is a life saver! Previously, I had been able to use the rubber mat type jar opener. However, for some large jars that are vacuum sealed, I didn’t have enough force. This is true of another manual jar opener I purchased. Also, this product adjusts to the size of the jar. I highly recommend it.Update: Unfortunately, when the opener encounters a jar it can’t open, like any Rao’s spaghetti sauce or other such jars, it just keeps a screaming sound while trying to open the jar that doesn’t stop. We tried taking the batteries out, but that doesn’t loosen the opener from the jar. It’s stuck and can’t be removed.

Great little gadget!

I bought two of these. One for my mom and the other for my mother in law. They are both 80 years old and struggle to open jars. The told me they use it everyday. I went back and bought a third for myself. I keep it in the kitchen and no longer have to bang on jars and struggle to open. Such a great gadget or a gift to give to someone.

Useful
I’ve known about these gadgets for ages, but I finally bit the bullet and got one to try out. Watching it pop the lid off was oddly satisfying—it made it look like a piece of cake. Keeping one of these handy at home makes popping open bottles a breeze.

It helps when I’m weak from being hospitalized. It was easy to put on and easy push button operation. It even helped open a jelly jar.Edit: I tried opening a can and it didn’t opened it. In fact, it bent the side of the can. Works great opening jars just not cans.

What a piece of GARBAGE!
I was so excited to get this product because arthritis and a hand injury have made it virtually impossible for me to open a jar.I placed the opener on top of a jar, as instructed, and then pushed the power button. So far, so good. The opener clamped tight. But, then…….NOTHING! The motor just whirred loudly but the lid stayed put! Worse yet, when I attempted to remove the opener from the jar, it would not release! Nor would it power off. I enlisted my son-in-law’s help, but he was unsuccessful too. As a last ditch effort, we even tried removing and reinserting the batteries – a very tricky maneuver when a heavy jar is locked tight to the device. That got it to power off but the lid still would not disengage! I finally decided that I had no choice but return it with my jar of pickled beets firmly attached! I just called it a night and went to bed.In the middle of the night I was woken by a very loud banging noise coming from the kitchen. It was the #$@&! jar opener! It had mysteriously turned itself on (still attached to the glass jar of pickled beets), toppled on it’s side, and was mere inches from vibrating right off the counter and shattering onto my white tiled kitchen floor! What a horrible mess that would have been with pickled beets and glass shards everywhere! I removed the batteries and went back to bed.In the morning I was finally able to pry the device off the jar.Needless to say…I would NOT recommend this product.

Finally got that pickle jar open
What I have learned as I am getting older is that jars are my enemy. This think simply fits over the lip of the jar and you push the button. It closes the ends down on the jar on the outside and the lid on the inner grips. Once it reaches full resistance it starts to turn and pops it open about 1/4 turn. I was not kidding about the pickle jar, and it opened it up in seconds. Really easy to use and it actually works. Perfect for those of us older folks as well as for people with hand issues.
